Working copy of Galaxian and\or Space Invaders?

Post by nintendo2600 »

Hey,

All the galaxians I find have a bad header, same goes for space invaders. Can anyone point me in the general direction to a site that has working copies of said games? Not asking for direct link to a ROM as that would be a no no of course. I just want to get ahold of images that are gonna work on real hardware with NROM-256.

Thanks!!

I believe some emulators have header editors that can strip the "DiskDude!" bullshit, and I seem to remember that more recent GoodNES versions can as well.

DKOldies.com has authentic Game Paks, and if it's sold out, try eBay.

Dwedit reported that some of the "menu only" multicart ROMs have Galaxian built into them, due to the way the game maps memory: Galaxian uses only half of the PRG space on an NROM-128 board. If you just want to test your NROM-256 devcart or reproduction skills, you can try it out on something Free like LJ65.

Bad headers shouldn't be a problem when using devcarts, because you simply don't use the headers. If the games don't work, the problem must be somewhere else...

OK so if galaxian only uses half of the NROM-128 should I be doubling it up or someting to make it work right? I've tried making it and everytime there is garbled graphics. And I know it's not bad wiring as I've used the exact same board and the exact same chips succesfully with other code.

Did you check the mirroring? That can mess up the background graphics.

Ya I did check but I'll build another one and see what happens. Last time I build a galaxian cart was a while ago so it might have been something that simple or it might not.
