I eventually got a Battletods cartridge

Post by Bregalad »

Man I'm so glad about it. I finally own the real thing. And I've done two absolutely incredible things :
- I beat turbo tunnel racing without loosing any lives on the very first try (tough I lose a life fighting rats before the racing part)
- I kicked the 3rd bomb in Rat Race level. I got defeated by the boss tough, but I don't care I'm still SO proud !

Honnestly it makes me so happy. So few people can state this. I still have to skip the Inferno using the warp tough, but I hope I'll be able to beat it too one day.

Battletoads' difficulty is overstated. I can beat that game without getting any game overs or warping (and without the 5 life start trick). Although trying to beat it without dying would be pretty insane.

But yeah, the inferno level is lame. It's mostly just memorizing the layout. Same with Clinger Winger.

Oh it should be true that the difficulty is a bit overexaggerated, but it's still very hard. I guess I have the right to be prod of my good results, and you have the right to be extremely proud of having beaten the game, not many guys can state so. (Well maybe many guys on nesdev, but I mean not many in the whole world  )

The problem with inferno is those dumbs rockets. Kill me all the time, if anyone have a trick to avoid them please tell it.

Farthest I ever got was the level where you get chased by the orb. I was player 2.

I was really pissed that one time I managed to glitch out the Rat Race level and get the "No Scuzz" bug, you kick the bomb, and nothing happens. Nothing to do but reset the game.

The rockets that fire up from the bottom don't hit you if you stick to the bottom of the screen. I usually just chill out in the lower-left corner of the screen. You still have to dodge the rockets that come from the top though.

Just don't go for the 1-up at the end of the rocket portion -- it's so not worth the risk.

- It's one of the best NES games. I got my cart a few months ago, complete package, box + manual. Aww! :)

The 3rd level is a real joke. As long as you keep attention to the coming obstacles, you are fine. Level 6 however is pretty difficult. I have to work on that. :)
