nwc repro outside of the retrozone version?

Hey,
Some friends asked me yesterday to make them NWC repros. Is there any hacks or patches to get the NWC running in any form on a common mapper board or is that repro from retrozone the only option? I could have sworn I've seen others showing off nwc repro's before that one came for sale on retrozone. I understand that it might not be running in all it's glory but the people that asked me are not looking to drop $100 bucks on a repro so if there is a scaled down\watered down solution these folks will be more than happy with it.
Thanks,
Shawn

It would be possible in theory to mapper-hack NWC to run on a less-rare board, but the automatic switching among games would need a lot more programming work than the Forbidden Four.
If your friends play NWC, what strategies do they use? Do they blow through SMB1 and Rad Racer to play more Tetris? (In that case, make them a repro of LJ65.) Or do they play SMB1 avoiding coins and rack up points on the various turtle-on-stairs glitch screens? (In that case, get them SMB1+Duck Hunt.)

What is LJ65? Also I think the only reason they want the darn thing is for novelty sake cause IMO, NWC isn't really all that hot.

LJ65 is a homebrew NES game that closely resembles Tetris, except with more responsive controls and a real vs. mode.

Well I just found out that the repro is only $55 dollars from retrozone, I was under the impresison it was much more (like around $100). $55 is respectable, if they don't want to pay $55 then I guess they are SOL cause all the work to make tha PCB,ect. $55 is a fair price tag.
