Low Buzzing Noise

Post by Wasgo »

I used my NES for the first time in a while today. I plugged in my PowerPak and turned in on, only to find that I'm getting a low humming noise through my speakers. I tried switching it from the receiver to the TV speakers, as well as switching to a different set of RCA wires, but I'm still getting that noise. Any idea what type of issue it might be?

I had this same issue when I used a third-party power adapter with my NES. When I switched to an official Nintendo brand power adapter, the problem went away.

Wow, thanks for the quick response. I'll try to go buy an official one soon.

It doesn't necessarily have to be an official Nintendo brand power adapter. It just has to be a non-crappy power adapter that meets the NES's specifications. However, the easiest bet is to just go with an official Nintendo brand power adapter.

It should be easy enough to hit up a thrift store here and get one, but if not, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks.

Swapped in an official NES AC adapter and it works great. Thanks again!
