Favourite version of "Bloody Tears"

Post by Bregalad »

What is your favourite version of this song ?

Mine is probably the Dracular X version - but I like NES and FDS too.

EDIT : Post links to songs :
Original FDS version
NES "celtic" version
Super Casltevania IV "jazz" version
Dracula X - "dramatic" version
Synphony of the night "hevy metal" version
Dawon of sorrow "rock" version

Other verisons arround :
Castlevania bloodlines (FM-synthetis based)
Haunted Castle (btw this may be the "original" instead of the FDS I'm not sure) (FM-synthetis based)
PC Engine version
Sharp X68000 version, agian FM-synthetis based
...probably a few others I'm missing.

Of course I'm also a big fan of other casltevania songs (especially simon's theme) but this is the one with the most different versions I've ever seen.

I'm going with DoS for this one, with NES as a close second.

You could've posted some YouTube links for people like me that are not familiar with the song. I can't vote for now, so I'll see if I can find some of them.

It's the song that plays when you're outside of towns in Castlevania 2 during the daytime.

Believe it or not, I prefer the Akumajou Dracula XX version of Bloody Tears over the original Dracula X version.

Frankly, I didn't like the song much. It has this great organ build-up, like something awesome is about to come, and then some simplistic catchy melody shows up, kinda disappointing IMO. Not a bad song, but the intro makes me expect something else.

The one in Haunted Castle is pretty good too, complete with very 80's-sounding drums.

I voted "other", because I love the version on the X68000 version:

And I also love the version on the PS1 re-release, the arranged version that is:

I think even though Castlevania Chronicles has techno-ish remixes of all the songs, I really like them! I also didn't know that there was a version of bloody tears on Symphony of the Night? Where does this play?

EDIT: For those of you who have not played the original X68000 version, don't mind the horrible mock-up display shown on the first video; I don't know what that's all about.

I'll always love the CV4 version of the song, though the SOTN version is damn good (bridges are a little cacphonous).

Me too, actually. One of the first CV games I really played was Dawn of Sorrow on the DS, and I remember this forum I visit was all hyped that it had a remix of Bloody Tears. I finally heard this iconic Castlevania song and was sort of let down. It just doesn't grab me.

"Beginning" from the first level of Castlevania 3 is my favorite CV theme! This video compiles most of its versions out there:

The one at 5:18 is pretty epic. But my favorite version ever is this remix, I'm not usually into hard rock but it's really well done:

I prefer vampire killer. Others I like are:

The Tragic Prince from SotN.
Eneomaos Clock Tower from CoD
Anti-Soul Mysteries Lab from LoI
Abandoned Castle
Theme of Simon - Man, this one really sets the theme for Castlevania IV. You know the game is going to be awesome.

I've edited my origial post to add links to songs (what I have been missing heh stupid me) so that people can make themselves an opinion.

Yeah of course I also like the songs you mentionned phazmaztis. The big beef I have with the guy who makes those collections is that he didn't understand that the Famicom version of CV2 and CV3 had completely different music form their NES version.
Useless, lumbering half-wits don't scare us.
