I remember reading about this before. It looks like a neat project. If you simply just want to read and write to your carts SRAM, you can try looking here: www.retrode.com The retrode lets you play your SNES and Genesis carts on your PC. With the SNES feature, you can have your emulator save directly to the cart.

Thanks for the input !! This product looks good !! But right now, I am building a simple snes dumper base on a Atmega8535 that will cost me 15$ and it will be ok for me. The only thing I want is to backup my saves before changing battery in my carts !

I've considered building it before, but I decided not to because I didn't have a parallel port to use with it. Recently though, I bought an old Thinkpad 560 that has a parallel port and could interface to the cart reader. If you're interested in building it and have the know how, I would be intrigued to learn how it turns out. If you're successful, I might try building one myself. I may also get the retrode to be able to use modern hardware to interface with my carts. My Thinkpad 560 will not last forever, but it's a good little machine for using with my SF7 or other parallel interface devices.

Its going to be fairly cheap for me to build as all I need to buy are the 2 8255s(5 bucks a piece on ebay) and a 74LS373(2 bucks at Jaycar). I have a broken SNES that I want to use the APU in making this SNES APU on a PC. While I am at it I may as well use the controller ports for a SNES to USB interface. Which means I can use the catrdige connector for this.
