[REQUEST] Need Covers and Remixes for Homebrew Game

Hello, everyone.
I need some help for a Megaman fan game I'm producing.

Details about the game "Megaman Powered Down" can be found here:
http://retro.staticfire.co.uk/mmfn/foru ... opic=356.0

I'm pretty useless in the music department so I need help recreating the MM1 soundtrack, making some MMPU covers, and recreating the MM1 sfx.
I've need covers in order to avoid any potential IP snags and to keep the project under fan work protection.

I would do the work myself, but I really suck at music and have a perforated eardrum to boot. I would appreciate any help and credit would be given of course.

Even a cover would be a derivative work that infringes Capcom's copyright. Or can you cite Capcom's policy about fan works?

- Don't be so straight, tepples. Look that MM7 PC and see: there's no money involved.

As long as i don't use their data it's all good.
There are equally compelling laws in place to protect not-for-profit fan works.

I'm pretty sure they COULD still sue you if they wanted for deritative work. Even if a non profit fan project...however lets not make this into another legal issue thread.

How about some new soundtracks? Take a look at Mega Man for Gameboy. I can recall Elec Man, Fire Man and Cutman having different songs than the NES version.

I'd rather hear something new than the originals, seriously.

They were the same songs, just with new arrangements. Not quite "remixes" though.

Ideally I'd like downgraded versions of the PSP remixes.
But since I'm not able to do it myself I'll take what I can get.

Also, while I could easily ask for permission to use a number of existing original songs, it would kind of contradict the purpose of a remake. Not to mention it would kinda feel like a cop out on my part. I might consider having an alternate soundtrack as an option.

So anyone willing to help?

The best person that I know for mega man covers would be Tssf but right now he's busy remaking the Mega man 10 soundtrack so I don't think he have time for now ;)

No doubt. He declined back when he was working on the MM9 soundtrack, but either way I wouldn't want to distract him from MM10 anyway. I'm waiting for that project's completion eagerly.

EDIT: H-E-L-P-!-!-!

recreating the music how? in the same restrictions the NES had? or stereo, etc with fewer restrictions?

If possible I'd like a reasonably strict recreation of the songs from the original NES versions for the classic mode. I even already have matching Oilman & Timeman NSFs. I just want to avoid using the data ripped from the ROM directly.

If not, then I only care that the PSP arrangements are accurate enough to satisfy the average player. It's all good as long as they be in ftm/nsf format. I'm not gonna go nuts over it, when even Capcom & Inti Creates didn't adhere strictly to the hardware limitations.

It isn't like before when I had to try to convert the tracks for insertion in to a ROM.

Been following your project for a while now, Vanya, and I wish I had the knowledge to help you with your remixes. You mentioned that you had 8-bit Oil Man and Time Man music already - you aren't talking about these are you?

Oil Man:

Time Man:

I don't want to be out of line here, but those don't sound very Mega Man-ish, so I hope this isn't the music you're planning to use. I hope that whoever you find to do the music, they keep the spirit of the 8-bit Mega Man games in mind while composing. I'd really like to see this project turn out proper. Good luck! Can't wait!

Didn't Oil Man appear in the Rozner Labs-produced "MegaMan 3" for IBM PC a long time ago?
