3. Right now I'd say that NESICIDE is the most knowledgable on $4014. Not me; I'm just the guy who logged the data about it, while NESICIDE has actually implemented it, and thus knows the ins and outs.
That sprite DMA stuff is cutting-edge. I don't want to put up really obscure stuff like that until it's well-understood. I don't want to encourage emulator authors to waste time on such obscure things. Unless an emulator is really clean and thorough, trying to implement those things will be very difficult. I only posted that really obscure test because someone really needed to know in order to implement hardware, since it was an unknown that was holding it back.
