What would make this website more interesting?

The same with any other homebrew or technical website; there just isn't too much going on at one time. Programming is so much of a time consuming hobby that you'd rarely see a major breakthrough.

If nobody can think up some fresh energy to attract people's attention from their boring boring lives, atleast recommend me a new hobby to fill in this big empty hole in my life. I have way too much free time with absolutely nothing to do.

I actually find this forum VERY active, especially considering its extremely specific focus.

Learn interpretive dance? Set a goal to be a GM in Tetris: The Grand Master? It's really not hard to kill time, if you just want to kill time for the sake of killing time.

Or... you could work on drumming up that energy yourself? Make the breakthrough yourself?

Play Battletoads until you beat the game. This should take you a LONG while.

You don't kill time; time kills you.

Thats true.....2 warp wistles to level 8 gets real easy, I've never played through that water world...

Maybe....hmm....I'm not sure. Maybe getting more people would be cool, but I like this small community actually.

I like it here though....why would we change? Maybe a more organized fron page would work? More fanciful.... that'd be epic. :)

Learn a new language, learn to play an instrument, learn to sail, start scuba diving, get pets or plants so you have something to take care of, knit a sweater, start excercising, take cooking classes, get involved in politics, read books, start skydiving, study religion, pick up a new career...

If all else fails, get Starcraft 2 and become a progamer! :)

Since nes/snes/retro programming is such a niche subject, I don't know what you were expecting in the first place.

Out of a scale of 1 to 10, how cool would an SNES software sprite rotation algorithm be? I think I figured out a way of pulling it off. All I need is to finish the code, and test it out.

  • An flashy Flash introduction (like this)
  • "Web 2.0" styled frontpage
  • A Clippy-inspired mascot
  • Earning experience/achievement points for posting
  • Allowing autoplaying YouTube/flash embeds
  • Banning capitalization/punctuation
  • Wiki pages detailing the various grudges/friendships between forum members
  • A biweekly podcast about nothing in particular
  • A shop selling shirts/mugs with the nesdev logo (or nesdev pin-ups (Neil Baldwin... @_@))
  • "Seconds game" topics (particularly of the "Who will you be sleeping with" variety)
  • Banner ads (esp. webcomic/MMO ones with cleavage)
  • Background music (preferably MIDI)
  • Copious amounts of animated GIFs and blinking text
  • Frames

Nothing beats This website's Flash Intro. You can do anything on that site, the only limit is yourself.

Nesudevvu-chan!

Of course, she would need to appear in various homebrews, including a hentai slideshow with elevator chip music.

Seriously, there aren't enough of those for the NES, I'd love if somebody made one. :)
