Final Fantasy III

Hey guys, I was wanting to play a little Final Fantasy III, and I need a little help. I have made plenty of reproductions to play with, but as you guys know this one is different. I can't find any info on how to do this one. Does anybody have any links or info they can help me out with? Thanks in advance!!

In terms of time==money, buying a copy of the DS remake is probably the cheapest, followed by PowerPak.
FF3 (J) requires a circuit board (TNROM, containing MMC3 + PRG RAM + CHR RAM + battery) on which no game was ever released in North America or Europe, so finding a donor board won't be easy. Some sites recommend finding an early-revision TSROM, the one with the expansion pins and the CHR /WR pin as might be found in SMB2, and then rewiring that. Have you ever put a battery on a board without one?

I have never added a battery. I am good with an iron and can follow directions well. Adding a battery doesn't look that complicated, but I have only seen pictures.

I guess I will just use an actual Japanese FFIII board with a gyromite style converter. It will cost a few extra bucks, but it will be much easier and cleaner.

Best way is using a SMB2 with all the middle pins like tepples said !! SMB2 with no SEAL of Quality is what you want !! like this one

Go here to have some info on the actual conversion please compare all the info has some schematics and plans have mistake I have done 2 FF3 without problem using the info.

If all u really want is ff3 why not shell out the $25 and have the repo done 4 u. It you lack the required skill to make the conversion with a normal cart it seems more practical than importing a famicom title and buying an adapter.

Rather than sacrifice a SMB2 cart and do required modding, it makes more sense to buy the original cartridge seeing as the price really isn't that high.

With shipping it's $20, and if you don't read Japanese you can re-flash it with an English translation. Saves a lot of work, and gives you the best possible result.

I have the skill to make it. I don't have the skill to develop this conversion myself, which is why I asked if there was anymore info. I can follow directions and solder, so I can do it. Read my previous post... I was already doing this!! I ordered one for $15 shipped. Now that I have the info I think I will try it both ways.

Oh, and BTW, nobody makes this repro for $25. Other ones, yeah, but not this one.

You can use the TKROM option and add an extra nes pin. Pretty easy

Well if you look at the french forum I sent you, I actually sent I little schema of the added battery but you can't zoom it wich is sad but pretty easy to do ! But you can translate and read the discussion ! It's pretty easy to figure out only by looking at the picture. You need 2 diode to prevent the battery from feeding all the nes and to prevent 5v into getting in the battery.
