If you mean SD Gundam Gaiden, that is mapper 159 and not the same as DBZ.

If you want to play DBZ in english, buy the original cartridge and replace the MaskROMs with EPROM or Flash just like any other cartridge. You might have to rewire like any other MaskROM, or maybe not. You'll just have to check and see.

Then the EPROM isn't wired up correctly. Did you rewire the EPROM or directly solder it into the socket? Whichever you did, you probably need to do the other.

pin24-hole16

CHR

pin24-hole2
pin22-hole31

I don't know off hand. However it's possible it doesn't need to be rewired since Famicom carts were not all manufactured by Nintendo. Thus it might have a EPROM compatible pinout. Since it isn't a Nintendo Mapper, it's not a Nintendo made board, so it's worth a shot trying it without rewiring.

But I'm not sure as I have not ever messed with any Famicom boards as I don't own any.

I suggest downloading Disch's mapper docs at http://www.romhacking.net/docs/362/ and reading the information about mapper 16. It explains very clearly the difference between mappers 16 and 159 and explains all the registers. It also attempts to explain EPROM. Also, refer to this page: http://wiki.nesdev.com/w/index.php/Bandai_EPROM_mapper
