It's a software emulator running on a 1.8GHz Intel Atom processor running the Ubuntu 10.04 LTS OS.

Looks like the only real novelty is the throwback case. Besides that, it looks like generic hardware, an emulator, and maybe a menu system. At least they offer the barebones, but even that's too expensive.

Does the built-in emulator work with a 1541 drive, for those games that use disk-based copy protection? I didn't see any mention of such.

But the form factor can be important. If connecting this device to a large monitor is as easy as plugging in a 3 m HDMI cable, this might revive the TV-connected home computer.

Seems like OS9 for the TRS-80 Color Computer 3, except it's just emulated and not an actual OS that you can write assembly in and NOT get the advantage of those card readers.


A SuperIDE+Coco 3 running OS9 with the 4MB upgrade is more of what I thought this would be. Oh well.

I think they could make a pretty huge buck by putting the actual C64 guts into this more modernized case, and calling it a new revision. The updated keyboard hardware alone would make it worthwhile.
