Yeah, Super Pig was one of the first big projects I worked on. I have no memory of how long it took, but it did take a while. I've got it in storage. If anyone is interested in buying it, let me know. I'm open to offers.

speaking of big sprites...
Mario! Mario! Mario! Mario! Mario! *and then Mario's head is somehow the size of all of North America*
Following in my series of awesome huge sprites comes Super Mario. Sprite is from the image gallery of the Gameboy Color's super Mario Bros. Deluxe. I slightly edited and recolored the sprite, tweaking its inherent awesomeness, because I'm awesome.

You should submit some of these to Loading Ready Run for Desert Bus 5.
I'm sure people would love them!

That's some great stuff. On another forum I saw your picture of Death from Castlevania 3, that was awesome.

I personally know a supplier, but even still I have to import these from the US. The beads are sold in craft stores and sometimes big box stores like walmart as well, but the beads aren't cheap. That's why I'm so eager to sell sprites on so many communities to try to recoup some of the dev funds.
eh, might as well post my latest sprite!
The Valis heroine, Yuko Asao from the PCE CD remake of Mugen Senshi Valis, easily one of the best games on the platform.
I'm quite pleased how well this turned out. Ever the tinkerer, although a full color 16-bit sprite, even this sprite is color enhanced. I knew it would be quite fragile, so I reinforced her sword with transparent beads. I think it makes it look better, too!

WRT the perler beads themselves -- they're available on Amazon for a cheap price (around US$14 for 11,000 beads). Of course, you get a mix-match tub of colours. Example:

What SatoshiMatrix does obviously requires sets of actual colours. I imagine those cost more rather than a generic tub of random ones (whose colours seem to be primarily pastels and obviously catered towards little girls; sigh). EDIT: Hmm, maybe not that expensive after all!

Also, for those wondering how all this stuff works (particularly how to make the beads stick together permanently), I found a useful Youtube video:

I also thought this video was cool because it was of a gal making an invader from Space Invaders and the music was cool:

Maybe your next project should be a full animation?
Something really awesome like the
Fire Emblem ones?

Hmmm. I've seen these beads available in Ikea shops a few weeks ago and I think they are not expensive either, but the bead board came with the kit (I think only two kinds of packages are sold ATM, a kit with the board and some beads, and large jar of refill beads) is quite small (it's meant for small kids to make tiny accessories I think). So, to make pieces as large as the ones here, do we need to buy multiple kits for more boards (I see that we can join boards to form bigger ones)? Or we can make pictures in chunks and then stick them together with an iron?
Anyway, the works are amazing.
Edit:
Found them. They're quite cheap, but it seems that the bead boards they sell cannot be joined together into larger ones. Perhaps we need to buy boards elsewhere.

yes, some american sources can get them for a lot cheaper. But I'm in Canada, and there's very little here. Also to do anything beyond Atari 2600 level works, you need a large basis of colors. It's expensive in more ways than just the materials themselves. You need to have an extraordinary level of patience for tedious work and be willing to put in long hours into the hobby for the love of the hobby alone. It's kind of like model aircraft building if all the pieces were the same size and you only had vague instructions.
still, if you guys want to try your hand at it, I'd love to see your work as well, just keep in mind that this hobby requires dedication.
UncleSporky, I'm not quite sure what you mean. You mean make stop motion sprites? That would take.....considerable work
tepples I would, but I'm worried about copyright infringement.
Okay guys, here's more of my works fairly simple works to start off.
A quick little Yoshi from Super Mario World
Color enhanced Link raises the Master Sword in a victory Pose (Link the the Past)
Jet Set Radio guy

understand the concept of love! Uh!!!

more to come of course.
