Hi, i have a couple of questions regarding the snes cartmodding:
first of all, i saw this page:
http://www.generation-snes.fr/Forum/ind ... wtopic=183
Does this works with every 16mbit hirom game (with matching srma)? For example, does this tutorial with the great tool SWAPBIN works with Live-A-Live (the translated one of course)? I think it should work but i would like to be sure before destroying a cart:)
second, does this SWAPBIN works with every 27c801 eprom soldered on one PRG only chip on board? or just those cart with the mad-1 chip?
third: i have some boards like this:
http://www.snescentral.com/pcbboards.ph ... VC-2J0N-01
if i desolder the two chips can i put two 27c801 with the same method as the first for radical dreamers? (for compatible games of course, 16mbit, hirom, no sram).
Thanks in advance!:) and take your time i'm in no hurry!

Re: cartmod questions swapbin related
You can use the SwapBin program with almost any SNES ROM so long as the ROM size is a multiple of 8Mbit (8, 16, 24, 32Mb). The program was designed for the 27C801. If you're ROM is 4Mb you'll have to pad it to 8Mb before you SwapBin it. Likewise, if your ROM is 12Mb, 20Mb, etc, you'll have to pad it to the next multiple of 8 if you wanna use SwapBin. The latest version of the Live A Live patch bumps the ROM size up to 20Mb. So this means that you'll have to pad it to 24Mb if you wanna use SwapBin on it, and you would have to use 3 27C801's. The v1.0 patch leaves the ROM size at 16Mb, so you could just use that version if you wanted to.
I don't think I completely understand the question here. SwapBin has nothing to do with what's on the board. The ONLY thing SwapBin does is change the pinout of a 27C801 so it more closely matches the pinout of a SNES mask ROM.second, does this SWAPBIN works with every 27c801 eprom soldered on one PRG only chip on board? or just those cart with the mad-1 chip?
Yes, if you remove those two mask ROMs you can replace them with two 27C801's.third: i have some boards like this:

You can put whatever you want in there. You can stick two 4Mb EPROMs in there, two 8Mb, or one of each (and I'm pretty sure you can leave one empty, too, if you wanted). Much the same, if you had a game with a 4 or 8Mb mask ROM you could replace it with a 32Mb EEPROM if you wanted. The size of the mask ROM(s) doesn't matter. No i was thinking put two chips again, but 8mbit each... But i don't know if the game MUST be 32mbit or can be less...
