Hi guys

I have some problems with my Final Fantasy 1 & 2 Famicom cartridges (not multicart FF 1 + 2). I want to reprogram them into English. So, check this out how I did it on each PCB: I desoldered the EPROM, cut some tracks (I mean 3, A16, A17 and /OE) and swapped them into correct places.

The effects in FF1: after naming all the 4 characters and pushing A/START, the screen goes black and then nothing happens.

The effects in FF2 are similar: after the title screen and the next screen with some text and pushing A/START, the screen goes black and nothing happens too.

It seems that the SRAM chip has some problems, but what?? What am I doing wrong?? Please for some help. Thanks!!

Both of these carts are 256 KB MMC1 boards. On the 256 KB Mask ROM chips lines 2 and 22 are connected with a trace underneath the chip. This trace will need to be cut.

Please note that I am not speaking from experience, just what I've read in other threads and documents. Here are the references you should check out.

Yeah, you're right and I did this. I cut the track which went to #02 pin and I plugged this pin into A16, so everything should work now, but it doesn't...

Are these hacks known to work on hardware? If this has not been confirmed the problem could very well be on the software side.

Well, I'm trying to use original NES FF1 on a Famicom FF1 cartridge and FF2 prototype on a FF2 Famicom cartridge. They should work I guess...

Try putting a known good dump of FF1 J on the cart and see what that does.
