9-12V DC, negative center polarity, 850 mA and up. Ideally you want 9V so the regulator won't burn as hot.

I heard SNES AC adapters work well with them as well.

Only Japanese SNES AC adapters will work. US SNES has a weird tip. It won't fit a GDSF DC power socket. And Euro SNES adapters are AC and not DC which is totally unacceptable.

Sounds to me like a Sega Genesis model 1602 AC adapter (9V DC, 1.2 A, negative center polarity) would work fine. I use one with my AV Famicom (actually a 1602-1, which is 10V), which AFAIK used the same adapter as the SFC in Japan.

a sega genesis model 1 ac adapter seems to be the best ac adapter for powering most game copiers. I would suugest an official one rather than a 3rd party one.

I agree. The Sega Model 1 Power Adapter is excellent since it is compatible with alot of devices and it provides sufficient power with its max amp rating of 1.2amps.
