I recently acquired one of these and I have been to Chris Covell's page about this unit, but I want to know if anyone here can answer the following :
1. this unit seems to play cartridge games at a slow speed. is this normal?
2. what do I need to convert .NES format games to work on this unit?
3. what memory mappers does this unit support?
4. does there exist a way to use regular NES controllers with this unit?
any help is appreciated!

RGB_Gamer, it's possible that your PCJr is one of those elusive PAL variants that runs games at 50hz. Most/all games should run at full speed if the PCJr is an NTSC version.
There are hacks available here:

You can make a controller adaptor using this document:

I don't have any pal carts - they are all NTSC

At least the music usually.
Megaman 2 for example. They didn't even adjust the pitch, as far as I know.

They adjusted the pitch in all Mega Man games, even if this introducted sound effects glitches in the first two.

Oh, I didn't know it was like that. I guess, I was wrong then, with the pitch not being corrected.
