NES Combinations to Test Against

This is related to my comment in the PPU Quirk topic. What is a good set of combinations to test your homebrew on? Do people just test against any old US NES or NOAC clones? I think I read licensed developers needed to test against at least 3 revisions of NES boards. What do people consider a reasonable set of combinations to test against?

Some people can't test on NOACs at all because all they have is a PowerPak, and PowerPak doesn't boot on NOACs. I tried my PowerPak on an FC Twin at a local retro gaming store, and all I got was a blank screen.

Thanks for the response Tepples!

I actually did get my PowerPak to work on the Triple (NES-Genesis-SNES) Clone with Infrared Controllers. Not fully functional mind you. Some joysticks don't work and some games don't work.

If you personally only worry about working on a real NES - and not a clone or certain revision of NES - then that's a strong indicator of what I should do.

Yeah most people don't test on several revisions, and I don't consider it very important either, since the differences between revisions are pretty minor.

I would definitely want to test on the clones though if I was planning to release a game on cart.
