Lost in Flash Rom numbers

Post by jpx72 »

I am searching for some cheap 4Mbit Flash ROMs, standard 32-pin PDIP with JEDEC pinout. Is there some table with chip numbers where one can find out what number means what chip?
So far I've found these alternatives:
49F040 (ATMEL)
29F004 (PMC)
29F040 (MX, AMD, ST)
28SF040 (SST)

Are there more? Do all of them have "F" between the first two and last three digits? Does anybody sell them here? Thanks!

Also:

SST39SF040 (SST/Microchip)
AT29C040 (Atmel)
A29040B (AMIC)
I think I had a Winbond flash chip sometime, I don't remember the part number though.

As you can see, they don't all have an 'F' in the number. 5V NOR flash is common, but seems relatively hard to find. If you really can't find what you what, used ones will always turn up on ebay eventually.

I'm not sure how either do on international shipping, but I have bought AM29F040B from Future Electronics, and SST39SF040 from Digikey. And ebay.

On my newer boards, I've pretty much switched over to using PLCC package exclusively.
