Hello,

I have a chance to get some 27c080's and I would only be getting them to use with the SNES so I was wondering if there is any pros or cons to using them instead of 27c801's?

Thanks!

Do you mean actual dual mode chips? Probably 40 pins or more? They would work just fine, but ofcourse unlike a 27C801 the pinout is not going to remotely match the SNES MaskROM so it'll require all wiring I think. But it should work just fine.

??? They are identical. 27C080 is actually the standard Intel/JEDEC code, '801 is only used by a few second sources.

I knew it had other part numbers. Didn't realize this was the same. But it would be obvious as you need alot more pins for a 16bit supporting chip.
