Hahahaha

@3gengames: Obviously not real. Google is known for making these kinds of jokes.

EDIT: Pretty elaborate joke though, since they went through the trouble of actually implementing the "Quest" skin!

EDIT: OMG! If you use Street View they screw up the colors and pixelate the shit out of the image! Looks nothing like NES though.

Yes and no... you can visit a web version of Google Maps NES at http://maps.google.com/?t=8&utm_campaig ... _source=yt while waiting for the real cartridge to be launched... ;)

Yeah, that one was a bit lame. Would have loved to see some 8x8 lo-fi block partioning of the image instead, along with some 16x16 attribute clashes.

I hope so. I'm guessing it's at least 900913 times better than the MMC1.

Lol. And yeah, after the 2nd video watch and seeing the supposed NES video interface at the wrong resolution, I kinda realized it wasn't as real as I thought, heh. But, I mean, this still would be very possible...although you won't see me trying to connect to the internet anytime soon. lol.

It's probably some ARM SoC that feeds the graphics to the NES PPU, like I go on and on about "TV tuner mapper". I noticed from the video that it appears to use VWF, or at least a non-8x8 font, so there's probably some sort of framebuffer. I wouldn't be surprised if it were running a stripped-down Android environment.

This is an amazing april fool !
Too bad the mountain and town tiles disappear when you zoom too much, this is weird.

Haha, it's fun to see your house fixelled in 16 color.
But yeah it looks nothing like NES.
Useless, lumbering half-wits don't scare us.

OMG, Now I want a full sized poster of the map of the world in 8-bit!

Also, in the video they made there's a priceless shot of a Japanese family looking bored out of their mind right after inserting the cart.

BTW, how long do you guy bet it will take before somebody really code a basic map software for the nes as a joke (an then reproduction cart show up on ebay:roll: )

Heh Interesting that they just lifted directly the musics from DQ instead of creating new tunes. Too bad the 'real' Quest mode doesn't have all the functions demonstrated in the movie.
