SB1 FDS Help

Hello all,

Can anybody help me with my project? My project is to take SM1 for FDS and make it match SMB2J in Graphics, and Physics, and Gameplay. I already imported all the graphics using yy-chr, and impoved player jump physics, using WindHex, but I need help with two things:

1. Insert skid sound from SMB2J, when Mario/Luigi make a sharp turn.

2. Make the timer routine count down in every X-4 stage.

I have the .asm files for both SMB1J and SMB2J in my computer, its just that I don't know assembly, and the computer technecians that I know do not know 6502 assembly. If anybody here knows 6502 assembly and would like to help me this would be great. I can post a patch of my rom if anybody can help. And as I said, just the skid sound, and timer routine for Castle Stages needed to finish my hack. Thanks. :)

Wouldn't it make more sense to just import the SMB1 levels into SMB2?

As I said, the hack is already matching SMB2J in graphics and jump physics 100%.

The only thing left to do is insert asm coding for both skid sound and the timer routine for every X-4 stage.

No, hacking SMB2J at this point will not be easier.

Do you know asm, or can you get someone who knows asm to look at this forum? Thanks.

To increase your chances of getting help with this you should probably try to locate the code in question first (e.g. play SMB2J in an emulator that has a debugger and try to find the code that plays the skid sound).

Super Mario Bros has a weird sound effects system, you set bits somewhere, and it makes it play that sound effect. If all the slots are used, it would need to be expanded to use more bytes.

Everyone else that doesn't already have their own web site or Git site seems to attach with MediaFire.
