Even though it is some sad news that after all these years, the hosting will come to and end, the least we should do is to say "thank you". So I'm starting a thank you thread so people can say their comments on the subject.

I'm grateful that you offered us for free the hosting for nesdev and you didn't mind when I came with the hosting of the wiki.

You did a lot of effort to make sure everything run properly and helped blocking countless spammers to make sure the forum has clean has possible.

It sad that it has come to an end but life must go on. I hope that whatever happened to you that made you take this decision, that it will get better sooner or later.

Again, thank you for your time, it was really appreciated.

Agreed. Whilst it is sad that the hosting is coming to an end (the parodius network felt like one of those spots of the internet that kinda takes you back (hell it's older than me) so it kinda feels like it did when geocities went down for me) I do feel that Koitsu did a good job running it all and I understand his decision.

In short: Thanks for all the effort/money/sweat & tears over the years. And may any future endeavors work out well for you man!

Yes, thanks for everything Koitsu. That includes both all the years of free hosting for the community, and also compiling that famous old document which (despite inaccuracies) helped me immensely with my nesdev efforts back in those late 90s.

Hope you will still feel like visiting the next forum we'll be geekin' around on, wherever it may be hosted :)

I'm relatively new(compared to, for example, Zepper or Tepples) but I feel like I should thank you for all your efforts.
THANKS :D

Yeah, thanks a lot Koitsu! You provided a great resource and it's a tough pill to swallow that it's going away.

When I got the email yesterday, I was worried it was some legal action forcing closure, and dreading reading more about it. Today I read more and found that it's a voluntary decision based on many months of consideration, which for whatever reason sits much better with me. I fully support koitsu's decision in this matter and trust that it's well-considered, even though I don't know anything beyond what's posted publicly.

Why close it down, and not hand it off to someone that will keep it alive for the community?

It just wouldn't be the same.

And why is that? Because X choose to host it someplace, but Y decided to host it at another? You wouldnt tell a difference.

Because you'll veru likely never find someone who's as flexible as koitsu. Who won't just shut down things without notice.

Or someone who'd be willing to cover the costs of hosting the data. :P
