And in a way, both 4th gen consoles were Apple-shaped. Mac used 68000 while IIGS used 65816.

We already have snes-sdk and PVSnesLib, the only nice thing to have that is still missing is a better 65816 C compiler. Even as is, I think it is an easier way for SNES newcomers to get started with homebrew than any assembly language game engines.
