That would be working, too. Had the same idea last night. It wouldn't be much better/worse than using the 4-screen bit as 1-screen bit - emulators will need to interprete special header bits either way. I was thinking of the submapper bits as a last resort to be used only if something did went wrong. In so far, I would prefer to keep them reserved for such purposes.zzo38 wrote:Use submapper numbers if it help? (For mapper numbers 256 and more, it is not need submapper 0 for the compatibility mode, so you can use submapper 0 for your own use.)
Oh, and submapper 0 - that will be still needed to be reserved as "default" value. I am pretty sure that things will go wrong in future. The NES 2.0 format doesn't prevent people from assigning the same mapper number to different boards.
DotFami, like here http://wiki.nesdev.com/w/index.php/User:Zzo38/DotFami ?zzo38 wrote:Or use the DotFami mapper codes (I have posted it above and believe it to be correct) (it is one reason why I make up DotFami). Or, even do both.
Looks powerful.
And also pretty complicated, at first glance at least.
Yes, would have some advantages. If it's really useful would depend on how many people have such adaptors. To me... cutting the CIC pin the console would seem easier than finding/buying a female 72pin connector with nonstandard 2.5mm pitch. And "just-want-to-plug-and-play" users would probably prefer multiregion CIC clones without cutting pins & without using adaptors.zzo38 wrote:Use 60-pins cartridge that way you don't need CIC on the cartridge, you can use CIC only on 60-to-72 adapter, so you only need one CIC instead of more than one. At least, it is my suggestion (maybe you don't like it).
