Is it possible to quickly replace the battery in a GAR without wiping out the code stored in RAM or will the RAM instantly flush once the charge is lost. I have a functioning cart and would like to put in a fresh battery.
Or is there a procedure for maintaining a constant current while switching out the battery.
If not I'll probably just buy a CopyNes and utilize the GAR fix button. I assume this function dumps the code back into the carts RAM once a fresh battery has been installed. I went to Kevtris's site but didn't see a descripton of the GAR fix details.
Could you put a big capacitor across the battery terminals? That's what a lot of PDAs such as Newton MessagePad 2000 did before lithium ion batteries became standard equipment
If you use a large capacitor, be sure you charge it with a separate battery first, otherwise if you connect it across the original battery while in circuit, it'll try to suck all its current as it charges and probably create the very interruption you want to avoid.
