Please Comment on my Upcoming SMB1 Hack

Post by ShaneM »

Hello all, I am working on an SMB1 hack that matches SMB2J in graphics/game engine. This is what has been done:

All graphics match SMB2J
1 Player Game
SMB2J flagpole/fireworks routine
Skid sound implemented
X-4 Timer routine countdown
Stop scrolls at the end of levels

Please tell me what you think of the idea; I have uploaded a photo.

Note that I updated the game's palette, so the graphics look better than they would on an NES console. Also, this is the FDS version of SMB1.

I am only trying to fix the game music that seems to loop at the flagpole, if you are interested in helping, please PM me and I'll hook you up with a patch.

Thanks, all comments appreciated.

A Question, Since I helped you, And maybe it'll help you back...

Will it be better if you can share your version's resources with me, so I can create a new version of SMBDIS disassembly, then remake it later with the SMB2j levels (MMC1 ports, Both with CHR-RAM)?

If you want to share, I can make enhanced ports of SMB2j and SMB1 with some better features and better graphics, I can give credit, since you are doing great so far!

The problems You and I are facing with SMB2j:

Currently no way of getting the Enhanced Ending, and Currently no special star badges

(Source code is especially welcome, Please PM if you can!)
